Notes on a Quest....

I'm still here...

Had to make it through the end of semester here.  As well as the New Orleans Jazz Festival.  And a lot of distressing things on this end which I'm not sure I'll go into detail about.

Just know this.  I like being back.  And now that all I have to do is a part-time job, I'll probably be posting a lot more. 

The question for me these days is...how honest should I be?  I mean I'm not funny like Katra is.  I'm shy about sharing my love life unlike KOTH.   And I don't want to sprinkle too many scandalous details about my life here where it might eventually be picked up by some asshat at my university.

So I'm in a quandry as to how to use my blog.  But I want to keep on using it.  Here.  On Typepad.  I tried VOX, but it didn't r0w my boat.

Suggestions welcome.

I took quite the break...

didn't I?

That's the thing about blogging.  after 4 or 5 years of keeping it up, one is likely to want to take, without warning, a month long break.  Anyway, I'm back.  My Spring Break was almost too nice.  Being in New York makes me forget all my problems.  then I return to Western Mass. and remember them all over again. 

Well, all that aside.  I've got my car back, at least physically.  I'm still trying to find a way to get my car to an inspection station and myself to the RMV (DMV in other states).  It's near impossible without the expensive help of a cab company AND a towing company.  But it has to happen.  Today I took a CAB to CAMPUS!!!!!  It was $17.50.  I say screw that.  But this is NOT NYC.  I am not "from aroun' here" and I do prefer big cities.  So sue me.  Or at least hope that I get me frickin car straightened out in the next week.  It's the only thing standing between me and sanity.

After close to three years

of keeping this blog private, invitation only and off of search engines, I've made the bold move tonight to make it public. Let's hope to god the Wrong People don't find it. 

If I suddenly get paranoid and slap some sort of password protection on it one day, well then I guess that means I changed my mind about going public.

But I would like to have some more readers.  For some time now, I've only had about six or seven.  I'd like to see where this goes with a few more....

Updates and whatnot

Updates:

The Dominican block party, complete with DJ and loudspeakers raged on until five am.  My roommate was ranting a bit about it today and threatening to call the police the NEXT time this happens.  I can't tell if she's saying that because she's afraid this might prompt me to quietly look for another place or not.  So far, I'm sticking with it here...just because I'm not sure where else I could find two bedrooms for the price of one. 

I'm painting the room a soft blue now.  This on the advice of my roommate who told me that yellow is "not a peaceful color".  Shit.  I don't want to upset the Feng Shui gods.  Plus, upon further study of the futon cover, blue makes more sense.

I found a new blog to read.  Stupid Bank is a rollicking good time.  Head on over.  It's so good, other bloggers who don't know how to read or write are stealing the posts and peddling them as their own.

Oh and if you visit the site of the person who steals posts, steel yourself for a backdrop of sea turtles and more plagarised posts on Patio Ponds, lighthouses and other random crap.  Click into the second page of her "blog" and you can see what this Tart is REALLY about.  She's quite the racist, xenophobe.  Good times.....

Blogland Security...

So I removed the password protection for now.  The people who accidentally received the email with the link must not have noticed it.  Let's hope it stays that way.  What do you think of the new redesign?

For now, I'll keep the CouchSurfer site as my public blog.  Since the departure of Limey's blog, I feel the need to meet more strangers in the blogoshere for conversations.  Interesting people.  You know...something other than one of those annoying scrapping blogs that seem to be popping up everywhere.  Or those baby blogs to show off the 300 billionth child born to this world.  No...I'd rather link to stuff along the lines of Zembla, King, Bad News Hughes or Up the Junction. 

So what I've been doing is quietly and stealthily prowling the internet and collecting links of potentially interesting blogs for me to recon for a bit.  I want a varied assortment of people.  From snarky to emotional.  From spiritual (in an interesting way) to political.  From literary to creative.  Military blogs, graduate student blogs, hillbilly blogs, oilworker blogs, taxi cab driver blogs...etc.

SEND ME ANY SUGGESTIONS.  I'd like an eclectic blogroll that might also foster equally eclectic exchanges.

You get the picture.  Time to find some more blog folks to talk with.  Ones I don't know in real life.  Blogging is a way for me to relax.  A way to get things off my chest.  To update a few friends on where my life is going.  To give myself a diary.  I keep a handwritten journal, but sometimes I wonder who else I'm writing it for?  To be discovered after my death?  Maybe partly so...

But I've realizes I've keep this highly secret handwritten diary with an imaginary audience in mind.  And now this blog is sort of catering to that imaginary audience.  Except you all aren't so imaginary.  You apparently are all quite real.

Anyway, yes, I have the CouchSurfer blog also to just put some of the interesting detritus I find floating about on the net that is of interest to me for whatever reason.  YouTube crap, weird videos of forgotten bands from the seventies, readings by poets, etc..

Soon I may start posting some essays that are appropriate for more public consumption in there too.  I don't know yet.  I feel so paranoid about the Wrong People finding my blog and reading its contents.  But it's a risk.  Because using this blog the way I've been using it has reminded me to keep my writing to a daily schedule.  My poetry is indeed something I need to always concentrate on.  No, I don't really post it here.  I am getting ready to publish and it's not good if an editor googles you and viola! there's the content they want to print.  Not good at all.

But I hope my entries over the last few years haven't been too boring.  Not like I care in a way.  Compared to most bloggers, I get very few comments.  And they mainly come from the same three wonderul readers.  Which is fine.   

I guess I'm not particuarly snarky, which is a popular and entertaining way to blog.  I don't publish my poetry here...so there goes the original content some might be seeking.  A lot of what you find here is just my daily grid kind of stuff.  My ups and downs.  My reflections.  But I think I should try getting some better essays on here as well.  We'll see if I can find the time to get some more interesting stories blogged.  Ones I won't shy away from publishing.  And if the Wrong People find it, I'll password the whole thing once again.

Anyway, thanks for reading.  I hope the design is looking better.  It's a work in progress.  Opinions welcome.
